| spa |
| dc.description.abstract | The study aimed to evaluate the economic and social feasibility of implementing qochas (small reservoirs) as a strategy to mitigate water scarcity for agricultural activity in the Churuccasa sector of the Manasqui community in Apurímac. The research was applied and descriptive, with a non-experimental, cross-sectional design and a quantitative approach, based on cost-benefit analysis (CBA) and cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA). The population consisted of 390 inhabitants, and the sample comprised 130 beneficiary families. Data collection methods included document review, registration forms, and semi-structured interviews. The results show that the qocha stores 135,625 m³ of water, increasing agricultural production from 3.14 to 7.43 tons (137%) and extending the number of growing seasons from one to two per year. Furthermore, the value of livestock increased between 20% and 30%, depending on the species. The socio-economic analysis yielded a positive NPV of S/ 14,382.42 and an EC of S/ 1,945 per family, confirming the project's social profitability. Furthermore, environmental benefits such as water recharge, erosion reduction, and vegetation restoration were identified. It is concluded that qochas (small reservoirs) constitute a viable and sustainable alternative for strengthening water security and promoting rural development in the high Andes. | eng |
