This paper describes the process and results of a descriptive and correlative quantitative research that seeks to identify the satisfaction of the urban cyclist in Lima in relation with the safety and infrastructure through the application of a structured questionnaire that was crated by the researcher. Specifically, this research want to increase the knowledge of factors such as safety (considering personal safety but also the one offered by the enviromental context) and infrastructure (bikeways and streets). The hypothesis of this study is that both factors are directly related; if the cyclists perceive the infrastructure has good quality, they will feel more secure. And this will influence their satisfaction to ride the bicycle. The analysis unit is the a urban cyclists from Lima, specifically those who circulate in the districts of Jesus Maria, San Isidro and Miraflores. They use the bicycle at least 1 day per week for non-recreational transportation. The mentioned area was chosen because those 3 districts of Lima have the greatest infrastructure for the cyclist, such as exclusive bike path bur also delimitaed signaling on the streets. A pilot test was conducted to get direct information from the urban cyclist. The test allowed to validate the questionnaire and after that the fieldwork had place on November 2015. The total sample of the study considered 100 urban cyclists, with a margin of error of 10% and a confidence interval of 90% . The results show the utility of the instrument not only to increase the knowleadge about the satisfaction of the urban cyclists in relation to the 2 main factors -infrastructure and safety- but also because it has allowed to identify new factors that had not been considered in the beginning of the study that could explain the urban cyclist satisfaction to ride bicycle, such as the level of confidence the urban cyclists feel on themselves and their driving style. This brings new opportunities for future studies, especially because there is a lack of studies on the target audiences.
