Research on digital reading and its impact on the educational field has developed over recent decades, as the evolution of technology has generated new reading spaces and concepts such as social reading, reading 2.0, and children’s and young adult literature on the internet (LIJ 2.0). Previous research does not clearly distinguish between these concepts, but rather tends to define them as if one concept led directly to another. In order to analyze the concept of digital reading from different perspectives, four articles—mostly published in Spain—were reviewed. The results show a large body of research published in books and journals on reading, writing, and educational studies, both in Spanish and English. They also reveal that discussions of digital reading are often associated with children’s and young adult literature online (2.0), and in turn relate to the concepts of sociocultural theory and cyberculture theory. This research in the educational field highlights the digital spaces where learning processes take place, which could serve as an effective tool to promote reading habits.
