This research paper presents a proposal for improving the maintenance management of the 4100 XPC shovels of the southern mining company, through the application of the PreVail and Grafana software, which will optimize maintenance time and ensure equipment availability. It began with the diagnosis of the current situation of the company and the maintenance management to get to know the weak points within the process, determining the inspection process of the air system and the inspection of brake wear, as the processes to be improved for being the ones that cause unplanned stops of the machines. At present, the 4100 XPC shovels have their own software that allows obtaining signals thanks to various sensors installed in the equipment to facilitate the control of the state of the components. However, this software only has a 30% utilization rate, which leads to a situation that can be improved. In the diagnosis of the problem it was found that the 4100 XPC shovels have overpressure and low brake air pressure events that caused the acceleration of brake wear, also failures in scheduled maintenance were verified. To solve the problem found, it is proposed the application of Prevail and Grafana software, that with the help of dashboards, it is possible to eliminate the inspection tasks during scheduled maintenance and only inspect the equipment when the dashboard indicates any nonconformity in its established control limits. Finally, it was determined that with the installation of the software an increase of 0.45% of contractual availability of the equipment would be achieved, which means a saving of 36 hours of maintenance and a representation of $7,920,000 per year.
