Apoyo social y autoestima en estudiantes adolescentes de un colegio público de Lima Metropolitana

Resumen
La presente investigación tiene el objetivo de determinar la correlación que existe entre el apoyo social y la autoestima en estudiantes adolescentes de un colegio público de Lima Metropolitana. La metodología fue de enfoque cuantitativo y diseño no experimental con corte transversal, así como también el alcance fue correlacional; seguidamente, la muestra estuvo conformada por 216 estudiantes adolescentes de tercer grado, cuarto grado y quinto grado del nivel secundario. Los instrumentos utilizados para esta investigación fueron el cuestionario de MOS de apoyo social percibido y el Inventario de autoestima de Coopersmith versión escolar. Luego de recoger los datos en campo, se logró indicar que entre las variables apoyo social y autoestima existía un grado de asociación significativa, siendo su valor relacional de 0,260; además, con respecto al nivel de autoestima fue regular para un 50,5%; baja para el 44,9% y 4,6% un nivel alto; igualmente con respecto a apoyo social el 28,85% tenía un nivel bajo, el 49,07% nivel regular y solo el 24,07% nivel alto. En conclusión, lo revelador del estudio es que al encontrase una asociación significativa entre las variables estudiadas, se pudo deducir que el apoyo social le proporciona al estudiante una mejor autoestima que le permitirá en adelante saber manejar situaciones de la vida.
The objective of this research is to determine the correlation that exists between social support and self-esteem in adolescent students from a public school in Metropolitana Lima. The methodology applied was quantitative in approach and non-experimental design with cross section, as well as the scope was correlational; Next, their sample was made up of 216 adolescent students from third grade, fourth grade and fifth grade at the secondary level. The instruments used for this research were the MOS questionnaire of perceived social support and the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory, school version. Thus, after collecting the data in the field, it was possible to indicate that between the variables social support and self-esteem there was a significant degree of association, with its relational value being 0.260. Furthermore, with respect to the level of self-esteem it was regular for 50 .5% and low 44.9% and 4.6% high level; Likewise, with respect to social support, 28.85% had a low level, 49.07% had a regular level and only 24.07% had a high level. In conclusion, what is revealing about the study is that by finding a significant association between the variables studied, it was possible to deduce that social support provides the student with better self-esteem that will allow them to know how to handle life situations from now on.
