Ítem Acceso Abierto La autoestima y el rendimiento académico en el área de inglés en alumnos de secundaria de un colegio particular de Lima(Universidad Antonio Ruiz de Montoya, 2022) Romero Deza, Sara María Sofía; Brito García, José GregorioThe main objective of this research was to establish the relationship between self-esteem and academic performance in the English area in high school students from a private school located in La Victoria, Lima. The type of research was basic, descriptive, quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional and correlational. Participants were a sample of 70 students, randomly chosen from fourth and fifth grades of high school. To measure self-esteem, the Coopersmith Self-Esteem Inventory, school form, was used. The academic performance in the English area was obtained through the Record Notes of the first bimester of the year 2021, considering the components of oral expression, reading comprehension and written expression. The results showed there is a non-statistically significant correlation between self-esteem and academic performance, whose calculated value was 0.177; however, a weak positive correlation was found between self-esteem and reading comprehension, whose calculated value was 0.310.
