The aim of this research is to identify the needs, values, and resources of a Comité de Monitoreo y Vigilancia Socioambiental Participativo (CMVAP) made up of representatives from a group of Asentamientos Humanos (AAHH) in Villa El Salvador. This study follows Yamamoto’s (2015) research line and the components of subjective well-being: needs, values, and resources. Data was collected using the Entrevista de Componentes Émicos de Bienestar (ECB) (Yamamoto, 2004), applied to all members of the CMVAP (n=10). The respondents were 60% male and 40% female, with ages ranging from 24 to 64 (mean ~40). The identified needs were “Family,” “Community participation,” and “Work,” emphasizing the importance of good relationships with relatives and neighbors as well as economic security. The identified values were “Contribution to the community,” “Getting ahead,” and “Honor,” meaning that a person valued by the CMVAP contributes to community development, is honorable, and seeks better economic conditions for themselves and their family. The main resource identified was “Self,” as respondents perceived themselves as causal agents capable of satisfying their own needs.
