El neoliberalismo en cuestión: el debilitamiento de la democracia representativa

Abstract

La presente investigación tratará de responder de qué manera el neoliberalismo o la racionalidad neoliberal afecta no solo en el aspecto normativo, sino también en lo sustancial a la democracia. En ese sentido, el trabajo estará dividido en tres partes: en la primera parte nos ocuparemos en comprender al neoliberalismo tomando como punto de inicio la perspectiva de Michel Foucault. En la segunda parte, complementaremos lo expuesto por el filósofo francés con otros autores más contemporáneos que, al mismo tiempo, evaluarán la relación que tiene con la democracia. Y, por último, mostraremos cómo el neoliberalismo o la racionalidad neoliberal merma la democracia no solo distorsionando sus principios normativos, sino también en el su aspecto sustancial, es decir, su propio ejercicio para la consecución de la igualdad política, la soberanía, el bien común, etc.This research will try to answer how neoliberalism or neoliberal rationality affects not only the normative aspect, but also the substantive aspect of democracy. In this sense, the work will be divided into three parts: in the first part, we will focus on understanding neoliberalism, taking Michel Foucault's perspective as a starting point. In the second part, we will complement the French philosopher's exposition with other more contemporary authors who, at the same time, will evaluate the relationship between neoliberalism and democracy. And finally, we will show how neoliberalism or neoliberal rationality undermines democracy not only by distorting its normative principles, but also in its substantive aspect, that is, its own exercise in the pursuit of political equality, sovereignty, the common good, etc.
