The following research covers the experiences of parents of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who have attended Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT). The interviews, that respond to a qualitative approach, have been carried out to obtain information about how these parents perceive the role of the therapy animal and what benefits, mainly on a social-emotional level, they have been able to recognize. A greater number of scopes were found in terms of the emotional aspect in relation to the social one. Likewise, the role that the family plays in the caring of their children with that diagnosis and how it is associated with support, not only in the therapeutic field, but also in their social-emotional development, has been taken into consideration. In the same way, the participants have emphasized the connection established between their children and the co-therapist animal, which they consider works as a pillar for the correct implementation of this therapy, since they affirm that the sensitivity they possess is as special as their children´s. Finally, this study functions as a literary contribution in order to have more information about the implementation of this therapy nationwide, since the number of researches on this subject is limited.
