The aim of this research was to describe the social representations of teenage pregnancy in mothers of pregnant or formerly pregnant adolescents. A qualitative methodology was used and the group of participants consisted of women between 36 and 63 years of age. The results show that the participants received the information that teenage pregnancy is a problem, others that it is a difficult stage and that it is something natural or normal. Also, the testimonies express both appreciation and rejection of teenage pregnancy. Factors associated with teenage pregnancy have also emerged, such as a difficult relationship between parents and adolescents, too much freedom for daughters and the desire to escape poverty. In addition, representations linked to a critical view of society and blaming the adolescent and her family have emerged. It is important to highlight this element of social representation, as it could have repercussions on the construction of negative relationships with the adolescent, hindering her development and well-being. Finally, the participants mention representations referring to the consequences of pregnancy in the lives of adolescents, such as the interruption of their daughters' life projects.
