Estilos de crianza y procrastinación académica en estudiantes de un colegio nacional en San Juan de Miraflores

Resumen
Esta investigación cuantitativa tuvo como objetivo principal determinar en qué medida los estilos de crianza se asocian con el nivel de procrastinación académica reportado por estudiantes de un Colegio Nacional en San Juan de Miraflores. Para ello, se realizó una investigación no experimental de alcance exploratorio y correlacional, de diseño transversal. Se aplicaron la Escala Procrastinación Académica (EPA) de Busko y la Escala de estilos de Crianza (ECC) de Steinberg, ambas escalas adaptadas para adolescentes en Perú. Se contó con la participación de 140 estudiantes de secundaria. No se encontró una asociación entre los estilos de crianza y la procrastinación académica. Se obtuvo que 72.9% de los estudiantes reportaron un nivel regular de procrastinación académica. También, los estilos de crianza negligente y permisivo fueron las únicas categorías encontradas en la muestra. Se identificó que existe una asociación débil entre la dimensión autorregulación académica y las dimensiones de estilos de crianza de compromiso (r=0.39*) y autonomía psicológica (0.205*). No se encontró asociaciones entre las variables sociodemográficas y el puntaje de procrastinación académica de los estudiantes. Mientras que, en estilos de crianza, se encontró la asociación con la variable sociodemográfica del cuidador principal (r=-0.24*).
This quantitative research aimed to determine how the parenting styles and academic procrastination reported by students from a Public School in San Juan de Miraflores are associated. It was conducted as an exploratory and correlational non-experimental research. Academic Procrastination Scale by Busko and Parenting Styles Scale by Steinberg were already adapted for Peruvian adolescents and were used in this research. Scales were applied to 140 high school students. Results showed that there was not association between academic procrastination and parenting styles. Also 72.9% of the students reported moderated levels of procrastination. In addition, neglectful and permissive parenting styles were the only categories on the sample. A weak association between academic self-regulation dimension and parenting styles’ dimensions commitment (r=0.39*) and psychological autonomy (r=0.205*). No associations were found between sociodemographic variables and students’ academic procrastinations scores. Plus, an association was found between a sociographic variable primary caregiver (r=-0.24) and parenting styles.
